Our fuss-free guide to throwing an adorable woodland themed party in no time! Featuring items from Amazon, this party couldn’t be simpler (or cuter!)
Hello as we (finally!) emerge from the land of Winter sickness. 😛 Chloe turned one year old on January 11th, and right afterwards, got her first cold. She had a miserable couple of weeks, complete with a fever and lingering cough. I consider us lucky to have made it an entire year illness-free, so I’m definitely not complaining. However, I’m glad she’s feeling like her usual self, because having a sick little one is absolutely not fun! I wanted to pop in today to finally recap her party, and share with you how to plan a simple, fuss-free woodland themed first birthday party!
Earlier this month, we had a small party to celebrate Chloe turning one with our close family and friends. To be completely honest with you…we are not one of those couples that dreamed of her picture-perfect, over-the-top birthday celebration since the day she was born. In reality? We got so swept up in the festivities of the holiday season, that we didn’t truly start putting together her party until the week before. 🙂 I did know that I wanted to do a woodland theme, but that was pretty much all I knew. Both Barry and I love planning parties, but time just slipped away from us (especially since we hosted our families on Christmas Day). Luckily the party turned out even better than we originally envisioned.
I first checked out local party stores for Woodland themed-items, but was unable to find anything. I don’t know why I even thought to stray stray from my usual go-to – Amazon! Amazon came to the rescue for pretty much everything we needed for the party.
WOODLAND THEMED FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY ATTIRE
My first Amazon win was Chloe’s outfit. When we chose the woodland theme, I kept coming back to the ever-popular first birthday phrase “wild one.” Not only does it speak to the wild woodland animals, but it also speaks to Chloe’s, uh…vivacious, energetic personality. 😉 This outfit was a steal – it’s great quality and it fit really well. We ordered it in white, and chose the 12-18 month size, which fit perfectly!). Most importantly, it looked absolutely adorable and the colors matched our decorations perfectly.
WOODLAND THEMED FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY DECOR
Since we were keeping the party relatively simple, we wanted to be sure that the decor was super festive and fun! This woodland happy birthday banner was so adorable. Each letter comes with a small piece to punch out, and a plastic needle to thread the ribbon the holes. It took me all of five minutes to put together, and it looked great once I hung it up. It’s also under $10, which is a bargain for something so stinkin’ cute. 🙂
The next (and most adorable part of our decor, in my humble opinion :)) were these woodland swirl streamers. The pack includes 30 pieces, with sixteen animals (two each of the following – squirrel, bear, owl, fox, rabbit, hedgehog, deer, and raccoon) and sixteen green swirls (without animals attached). These are high quality and the animals are so cute – perfect for a sweet woodland birthday party! We simply chose the length we wanted and hung these from our doors and ceiling using wall tape. So easy and so cute!
Our paper goods ended up being so cute, and much more affordable than the ones we saw at the party store! We purchased this pack, which included 24 each of dinner plates, dessert plates, and cups, and 50 large napkins. Easy peasy, and it looked great with the other decorations (despite the fact that they were all piecemealed together! #win)
So technically this first year banner isn’t woodland themed, but it was everyone’s favorite decoration! I bought this kit (in gold) off of Amazon, and it came with everything I needed to put it together in no time. I simply threaded the ribbon through the holes, and used the included sticky dots to attach a picture of Chloe at each month of her life. We printed our pictures at Walmart, which saved us so much time. So easy, and it looked great. It also made us realize, yet again, so quickly time really does fly by!
We picked out several cute mylar balloons from Party City, and we loved how the balloon display turned out! It wasn’t really woodland themed, but…it was super festive!
WOODLAND THEMED FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY FOOD
We kept the food simple and stress-free, which gave me lots of time to mingle and enjoy! We put out chips to start, then ordered a few different pizzas, chicken wings, and stuffed rolls from a pizzeria. Our guests loved all of the food, and I loved that I didn’t have to cook!
I originally considered making a cake for dessert, but soon realized that Wegmans could do it way better than me. 😉 We got a vanilla cake with strawberry filling (complete with a woodland design) and a separate vanilla smash cake for Chloe. It was her first real taste of sugar, and she was a huge fan of the frosting in particular! We also had cookies for anyone that wanted a little extra something sweet.
The cake topper you see above on Chloe’s smash cake was part of a set from Amazon, which also included a highchair banner. Chloe kicked off the banner within seconds – haha! – but it looked cute for the little bit of time it was on there. 🙂 (See pic below – it’s not the best picture, but the banner said “one” and had hearts on each side of the word.)
The “1” candle we put on the sheet cake was from Amazon. It was a bit smaller than we expected, but it looked adorable!
We also got a large “1” balloon to tie onto her highchair. She loved playing with it at mealtime for the several days after her party. 🙂
And there you have it! Our easy, fuss-free guide to throwing a simple yet adorable woodland themed birthday party! We were so pleased with how the party turned out (especially considering that we planned it in about a week!) Most importantly, though, we were able to celebrate our baby girl and the fact that she is ONE! Unreal! (Wasn’t it just yesterday that I was sharing my favorite items that helped me survive the early months after she was born?!) <3
