Last weekend we were out running some errands, and we found ourselves at the Perth Amboy, NJ Harborside Marina. I am a lifelong resident of New Jersey, and until now, I never knew that this little gem existed! It’s complete with an ice cream shop, waterfront restaurant, and marina with beautiful views.
THE BAYSIDE CREAMERY
There is a free public parking lot, so we parked our car and first headed to what initially caught our eye – the Bayside Creamery.
We were super impressed with this ice cream shop – they had many delicious flavor options, and it was packed to the brim with people (always a good sign!) Barry got his usual ice cream shop standby (a cookies ‘n’ cream milkshake) and I got a cup of peanut butter ice cream topped with a sprinkle dipped cone – both were delicious!
After we got our ice cream, we walked across the street to the marina and enjoyed it on one of the benches. There were so many people out enjoying the beautiful weather, and there were lots of boats at the marina to look at.
Someone couldn’t hang, and promptly fell asleep on our walk by the marina. 🙂
Looking in the other direction, we had a great view of the water and enjoyed watching the boats go by. Also, it was fun to watch the several people who were fishing right off of the walkway!
Enjoying our time outside, and the view! This was after spending quite some time at the Marina, and we were hot sweaty messes at this point!
Since we visited on a whim, we weren’t able to visit The Armory, a restaurant on the marina. We’ll definitely have to visit next time!
NJ locals, definitely check this area out if you have some free time on a nice day. It’s well worth a visit – and don’t forget to get your ice cream. 🙂
To my NJ friends – have you ever visited the Perth Amboy Harborside Marina? Are there any other must-visit local hidden gems? We’d love to hear about them!
